Templating & Patterns

Blackthorn loot has been designed to make end-game templating accessible but still preserve the uniqueness and best-in-slot hunting of min-maxed items.

The maximum stats allowable in a template are:

  • +26% resists

  • +75 stats

  • +200 HP

  • +25 power

  • +11 Skills

We have a custom Template Builder that you can use to make templates and submit Craft Orders directly to crafters.

There are no RoGs or currency systems that play a role in the templating process, so every template is sharable among friends and realm mates. Strong player trade and player economies will be the backbone of Blackthorn.

Charges/Procs:

  • Armor** **drops can have up to one charge, and one reactive proc added to them, but any existing proc/charge cannot be replaced. For example if you find an armor piece with a reactive proc already on it, you will be able to add a charge to that armor as well.

  • Crafted** **items can still only have either one charge, or one proc added to them.

This helps players to be competitive in RvR by completing their basic template.

However, on Blackthorn there will be a second stage of gear progression which will be handled by Patterns.

Patterns

Patterns are a custom system that allow players to advance their gear in several ways:

  • Increase or decrease the swing speed of their weapon

  • Increase the potency of their procs and charges

  • Boost the level of an item to 51

  • Boost the quality of an item to 100%

  • Apply a glow effect to a weapon

  • Apply a new skin model to a weapon or armorpiece

Patterns can be obtained from the Bounty Point Merchants in capital cities, or from various sources through drops, quests and events.

They are classified as follows ranking from least to most rare:

  • Common

  • Rare

  • Exceptional

  • Legendary

Not all pattern types have all these gradations, some only are Rare at most.

How it Works

Right click the pattern and click “info” to delve the pattern. The BTUI will automatically open and show you which inventory items are eligible to receive the pattern.

Select the item you want to use the pattern on.

If you are using a reskin pattern, a section called “Skin Options” will allow you to preview different potential reskin models by clicking on them.

Note: pattern success is not guaranteed and you may fail and lose the pattern!

Gear Related:

/dig

After killing a mob, move to where it died and type /dig to see a list of all of the possible (non-trash) loot that the mob could drop. This will help you determine if a camp of mobs drop armor and weapons appropriate for you.

Adventurer

In every town there is an Adventurer. Talk to this NPC and they will tell you where you can find upgrades to your gear that have fallen behind in level.
